Clients High-Five TeamDynamix for its New Enterprise 5.0 Software

May, 2007

New clients and existing clients who have made the switch from V4.0 to the new TeamDynamix Enterprise 5.0™ are praising the new enterprise project software for its usability, high-level reporting and convenient communications tools.

KEMI Turns to 5.0 for Portfolio Planning

As the largest carrier of workers’ compensation in Kentucky, Kentucky Employers’ Mutual Insurance (KEMI) appreciates the value of workplace safety. Similarly, the company understands that managers need to proceed with caution when analyzing and selecting IT projects to undertake.

For that reason, KEMI recently made the decision to implement the new Enterprise 5.0. The latest in TeamDynamix enterprise project software features an advanced portfolio planning system to manage project requests, prioritizing and scoring all potential projects for selection of projects with the highest returns.

“We need to focus on the projects that give us the greatest return and are the most beneficial to the business,” said Randy Garland, KEMI’s director of IT. “The projects we work on must add value.”

No doubt, KEMI will benefit from sound portfolio planning: The company’s 25-person IT department handles a tremendous number of projects. Over the last year, the department relied upon TD Version 4.0 to manage approximately 400 projects – and another 1,250 help desk issues.

“We use the TD software across the department, for every type of project, which includes development, systems, DBA, plus help desk tickets,” said Garland.

Beyond portfolio planning capabilities, KEMI DBA manager Jay Amin also is pleased with the many new user-friendly features of Enterprise 5.0. Amin, who is working with TeamDynamix in the implementation of Enterprise 5.0, especially likes the new “drag-and-drop” desktop organization, higher speed and ability to more easily notify users of new issues and to track all issues.

For this workers’ comp company, the payoff easily compensates for any work involved in switching to Enterprise 5.0.

Praevius Group Works with Leaders .  . . Including TeamDynamix

Executives at fast-growing Praevius Group realized they were having problems agreeing on opportunities to pursue. But they did reach consensus on their need for enterprise project software and the suitability of TeamDynamix Enterprise 5.0 for their company.

Praevius, a Fredericksburg, Va.-based consulting firm dedicated to helping leaders in the defense industry better use emerging technologies, carefully evaluated 12 different project management systems. Company executives sought the one system that could provide support in three critical areas of their operation: day-to-day project management, portfolio management and opportunities management.  Enterprise 5.0 stretched well beyond mere project management and also offered a simple user interface and high customizability.

“Because we serve diverse clients, we really appreciate the ability to create our own templates,” said Praevius Group vice president Chris Miller.

Praevius also sought software that would enable its varied clientele, from the United States Military Academy to the Department of Defense, to access dashboards for real-time project updates.

Praevius Group praised Enterprise 5.0 software; but they also are pleased with the level of client service packaged with the product.

“The guys at TeamDynamix are there to help,” said Miller. “They don’t just give you the product; they provide the training.”

Like Praevius Group itself, TeamDynamix is helping leaders at the company better use the latest in emerging technologies, at least, in the world of enterprise project software.

A True Partnership: TeamDynamix Listened to BraveSoft

Sure, Thomas Wood, principal and director of Business Intelligence Services at IT consulting firm BraveSoft, likes the advanced reporting prowess of Enterprise 5.0.

But Wood also likes the fact that TeamDynamix implemented some reporting improvements based at least in part on his input. His recommendations on time and expense reporting made their way into the new version.

“The report is now for a manager’s view,” said Wood. “Clients want to be able to see actual hours and estimated hours when they log in; now they can even see hours not submitted or not approved.

“I appreciate that TeamDynamix took our needs to heart,” added Wood.

In addition to richer time and expense reporting, Wood likes the convenience of both the new “drag and drop” feature, which enables the user to prioritize graphs on the desktop; and the first-of-its kind instant messenger (IM).

“Other IMs are available, but now the team can talk without knowing in advance which IM each team member is using,” said Wood.

“V4.0 is a good product. But the product just gets better,” summed up Wood. “This lets us spend more time on the project, and less on the tool.”

BraveSoft is based in Ann Arbor, Mich., and provides Oracle technology expertise and data warehousing to business intelligence and remote DBA managed services.
