Proactive Issue Detection

Turn every alert into action.

Catch problems before the ticket lands

Find problems before users become frustrated and unproductive. By setting thresholds for each signal monitored on a two-tier system, you can initiate a variety of actions automatically. For the warning level, you might send an alert email and run a remediation script. Then, if the problem gets worse despite the remediation, reaching the critical threshold could automatically create a ticket.

Pinpoint what's actually broken

The most expensive question in support is knowing what is causing a general perception of slowness. It could be a lack of sufficient memory, high CPU pressure, poor network performance, or something outside of your network entirely, like a broken DNS. DEX gives detail into what’s happening by measuring all possibilities, including network throughput, latency, and probing DNS responsiveness.

See What's Causing Drag

When computers feel slow, you can see whether a specific hardware component lies at the center of the problem or whether it is a software issue, such as if it was caused by the security and management stack. DEX attributes CPU, memory and disk to the software you have deployed, grouped by category, while excluding operating-system processes which can’t be removed.

Per-Application Resource Use

Understand the cause of slow machines by pinpointing specific issues. View per-process CPU, memory, disk I/O, launch time, and crash counts. A background-load measure learns what normal looks like on that machine and flags the creep in background processes that cause slowdowns. Watch for call quality issues in Teams and Zoom without needing API entitlements.

Consistent Threshold Alerting

Set two-tier responses on every source with separate trigger and reset thresholds and mandatory sustained-duration requirements. If a user is away, DEX adjusts thresholds that may not be relevant until someone is actually trying to get work done on a specific machine.

Become a Service Desk That Acts

  • Separate device problems from network problems
  • Verify DNS with three independent probe methods
  • Discover application-specific issues
  • Exclude OS processes so only chosen agents count
  • Learn a per-machine baseline instead of a fixed line
  • Identify a choppy Teams or Zoom call, no API needed
  • Measure SaaS response times from Individual endpoints
  • Identify pressure on specific hardware components

Self-tuning Baselines
Define Normal

Understand what normal is for each machine: how many background processes are too many, or how long a wake from sleep should take. DEX learns a baseline for each computer, alerts on the margin above it, and keeps that baseline across restarts so a busy workstation is not permanently red and a quiet laptop is not permanently green.

Shift-left IT support with DEX

When supporting thousands of devices, you need to be as proactive as possible—anticipating issues before they are reported, or ideally, before they occur at all.
