TeamDynamix is unique in that it integrates project task and tickets (incidents, problems, changes, service requests), allowing for a view of resources and work assignments across all work types – including projects, tickets, and change requests.
Depending on the organization’s needs or the maturity of processes, resource allocations can be made at the project level, or the assignment of resources can drive them to tasks on project schedules.
The resource manager can identify impending resource bottlenecks, determine what adjustments can be made, and make the adjustments via the Manage Allocations report in the Resource Management application. In addition, the Capacity Manager allows portfolio managers to run workload scenarios to determine when to slot new requests and the impacts of adjusting existing commitments.
Project requests can easily be managed using a formal intake process – this allows for an exercise in resource capacity planning at the time of project acceptance and planning. One step in this direction is to leverage a Project Management Office (PMO); however, for many, this is not possible. In either scenario, there should be a single view of resources, requests, and projects so that timelines, budgets, and outcomes are more tightly managed.
Track and Approve Resource Allocations
TeamDynamix allows resource managers to create time allocations to non-project work for their team members. Non-project work can be allocated by percentage, days, or hours for a given period. This is easily changed and managed to reflect changes in schedules and availability, especially crucial to the varying demands on resources activities given the calendar.
The Resource Management application and robust reporting allow you to track resource schedules, availability, time estimates versus actual across tasks, projects, and functional areas.
Resource managers can decide if resource request approvals are required, not required or if a simple notification of assignment works. With the requirement of resource requests, the resource manager will be presented with all the details of the request and the availability of alternative options for substitution. With Project Portfolio Management (PPM), you can roll up the view of resources to gain even greater insights.
